About this deal

Really, what gets me excited in the Equipment section is when it cranks the scale up into the industrial: namely, vehicles and siege equipment. Mechanics or Crunch- Paizo knows their system the best and they bring the best new materials for their toys. Ashanderai wrote: All I have to say, is that I'm desperately hoping the automaton ancestry is more "Pathfinder warforged" than a redo of PF1's androids. Like I said with that history in The Mwangi Expanse: use it as a Backstory of Doom, don’t commit it to memory. Oh, and like any good technologist, you can rig your creation to explode if you really get in a tight spot.

It was just a month or so ago, Paizo invited us to dive into magical wonders with Secrets Of Magic, arguably my favorite Second Edition hardcover so far. Dive into the intricacies of clockwork engineering with the inventor class or dominate the battlefield as a sharpshooting gunslinger! In addition to new classes, delve into an abundance of archetypes, backgrounds, vehicles, siege engines, gadgets, and the innovative automaton ancestry, providing options for battles of all sizes. It's a 50 buck book, but as an evil millennial, I mostly like PDFs, so the 14 bucks for a digital file is extremely worth it. So you have a wide variety of firearms, the most exotic of which are “beast guns”, which are a fusion of magic and creature parts.

The missteps I see are maybe more opinion; even if they are not my favorite things, they are done well. An exploration of Golarion's tech-infused Age of Lost Omens, including insights into Arcadia, Tian Xia, and the enigmatic city of Alkenstar. Of course, they’re going to have some tech that duplicates the function of magic items, but they also have gadgets – single-use items that fill a similar role to consumables. It will probably not come as much of a surprise to learn that dwarves invented this style of fighting.

They don’t need to eat or drink, but sleeping (a “rest state”) and breathing (“venting magic-infused gas”) both have equivalent processes that amount to the same thing. Fwiw I would want to emphasize the "guide" part of that by being less a list of guns and more a "tech level table" thing for GMs to build equipment of multiple different kinds. But reading through Guns And Gears, I may be changing my tune, and not just because playing a leshy gunslinger whose nickname is “The Salad Shooter” would be Dad-Joke hilarious. And it’s true that SOME of the ancestry feats are tied to a specific build (the hunter can get a camouflage that’s only available to them, for instance). So they’re constructs in concept but hew closer to organic beings in terms of touchpoints with the rules.
