About this deal

The 500GB hard disk and dual tuner are standard fare these days, but less common is the range of network features, which includes a range of internet content and DLNA streaming of media files across a home network. None of the solutions worked and so I have ended up using a passive splitter (less than a couple of quid). The splitter appears to be much the better option. No degradation of TV signal and no more problems with switching. I can now also use the low power state to save extra pennies. Interesting result, though as you know with my device it happens with power saving set to off. We do have very good signal, 100% quality with strength around 85%. Sometimes the IPTV channels work, but sometimes they don't. Again, I don't know why as it's not a network issue. (iPlayer still loads) The Fox T2 has that but the 2000T doesn't seem to have it as a menu option, it can be solved by splitting the signal to the 2000T and the TV of course assuming you have enough signal.

With power saving in standby set to 'OFF', loop through to the TV remains totally in tact. Neither of the USB ports become active. Even when the recording starts the USB ports remain inactive. Under these circumstances the only way to activate the USB ports is to toggle the 2000T on and then off again, and the USB ports will then remain active until the recording has finished, providing there is not another recording due to start in the subsequent 40 minutes. Perhaps you would post the two devices you are splitting the signal to, and blaming source rather than the near certainty it's the limitations of the destination kit. I then went through the tedious task of watching Saturday morning TV via the TVs tuner waiting for the Humax to wake up. Bang on cue at 15 minutes before the programme was set to record a result. This time the TV did not go blank but instead there was momentary picture break-up, freezing and pixilation.

Through the Humax TV Portal you can directly access BBC iPlayer to catch up on those programmes that you might have missed. Looking for additional entertainment then watch YouTube or listen to internet radio, additional apps are also available to enhance your viewing pleasure. Pause live TV to answer the door or make a cup of coffee then return to where you left off. No more missing that vital moment or dialogue. With the 500GB hard drive you can record and store up to 125 hours in HD of your favourite programmes. Pretty sure from another thread about the 2000T that it has a high power standby mode, isn't it (rather confusingly) called Lo-Eco mode or something similar?

It's nothing to do with Humax or any other makers, it's purely down to the limitations of the EDID data exchange between different makers destination devices. What I have noticed with power saving in standby set to off is that on wake up for a split second the LED turns blue and immediately red again. The first was from Robert W, who sent an obviously scripted reply that has no relevance to the problem at all:The DLNA client doesn't show up by default. You have to load the humax portal and then quit it before the network option appears listed. There are advanced splitters that can control the EDID codes, but of course the delivered audio and video has to be downgraded to the lowest format that both sources support. Sound quality too, is as we’ve come to expect from this class-leading TV; switching to YouTube we play the video for Frightened Rabbit’s Get Out and enjoy as dynamic and expressive a performance as our telly speakers are capable. Frankly your comments show you have little or no understanding of the issues involved in splitting a HDMI output to multiple devices with differing capabilities. USB file transfers are incredibly slow compared to the older Fox T2. I have no idea why, but it's frustrating.

When you connect a hdmi source to a HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection) capable destination, the source and destination exchange data that: Despite having ZERO problems with any of my other Humax boxes, the 2000T refuses to work properly with the hdmi splitter. Why would every other Humax box work but not the 2000T?I have asked Humax about this problem and have received replies from two customer service employees. If you want to send digital audio to a device that is likely to universally understand the codec used to compress the audio, you should use a proper AV receiver, not a TV. It has taken quite some time to carry out the tests as I notice that even if you set a programme to record that is some thirty minutes in the future, the HDMI port remains active even though the partial wake state doesn’t begin until 15 minutes before record time. Live TV App, when installed on a mobile device and paired with the FVP-5000T when in the home, provides a multi-room solution for viewing TV in another room.
