About this deal

New editorials by such renowned authors as Jane Goodall, Matthieu Ricard and Olivier Blond consider such perpetual issues as agriculture, climate and biodiversity, as well as the latest concerns - refugees, new technologies and environmental movements.

The average mass of the atmosphere is about 5 quadrillion (5 ×10 15) tonnes or 1/1,200,000 the mass of Earth. This image shows the Moon at the centre, with the limb of Earth near the bottom transitioning into the orange-colored troposphere. The various layers of Earth's ionosphere, important to HF radio propagation, begin below 100 km and extend beyond 500 km. Nearly all atmospheric water vapor or moisture is found in the troposphere, so it is the layer where most of Earth's weather takes place. This time, even greater emphasis is placed on verbal context for each image, with a predominantly social commentary which acts as a moral tax on the visual delights.

The above lying stratosphere can be seen at the horizon as a band of its characteristic glow of blue scattered sunlight. This rise in temperature is caused by the absorption of ultraviolet radiation (UV) from the Sun by the ozone layer, which restricts turbulence and mixing.

He is especially well known for his book The Earth from the Air, which has sold millions of copies since its first publication in 1999. Because the Sun is close to the horizon, the Sun's rays pass through more atmosphere than normal before reaching your eye. This vibrant new edition of the internationally acclaimed original features an updated design and nearly sixty stunning new photographs.

Much on show is conventional, exceptional landscape photography, but Arthus-Bertrand also trains his lens on our fingerprints smudging the idyll, such as the depressingly overcrowded shanty towns favelas of Rio de Janeiro or the sprawling communal rubbish heap of Mexico City. O 2 showed major variations until reaching a steady state of more than 15% by the end of the Precambrian. Some gases in the atmosphere absorb and emit infrared radiation, but do not interact with sunlight in the visible spectrum.
