The critic for The Times was less persuaded by the story, suggesting that "the general tautness and brutality of the story leave the reader uneasily hovering between fact and fiction". Rosa Klebb was partly based on Colonel Rybkina, a real-life member of the Lenin Military-Political Academy about whom Fleming had written an article for The Sunday Times. Folio commissioned Hokyoung Kim for the artwork, while the late author’s wife, Wendy Benchley, provides a fascinating new introduction. James Bond appears to have responded by sending Fleming a reciprocal gift for the following letter thanks him for a "tremendously impressive" bottle which would be kept "in the office in case either I or my secretary feel faint with over-work".

Their aim is to not only kill him, but destroy his reputation in a public scandal that will make MI6 look bad in the public eye.Chancellor put the events of From Russia, with Love in 1955; Griswold considers the story to have taken place between June and August 1954. The boards are in fine condition, with no notable chips and marks to note, aside from a very slight lean.

To make Bond a more rounded character, Fleming put further aspects of his personality into his creation. Used books have different signs of use and might not include supplemental materials such as CDs, Dvds, Access Codes, charts or any other extra material. Bursting with action and intrigue, From Russia with Love is one of the best-loved books in the Bond canon - an instant classic that set the standard for sophisticated literary spycraft for decades to come. The dust wrapper is finely illustrated by Richard Chopping and SIGNED by him with full name (Richard. As with several of his works, Fleming appropriated the names or backgrounds of people he knew or had heard of for the story's characters: Red Grant, a Jamaican river guide—whom Fleming's biographer Andrew Lycett described as "a cheerful, voluble giant of villainous aspect"—was used for the half-German, half-Irish assassin. The recipients were Leonard Russell (1906-1974), features editor and Fleming's colleague on The Sunday Times, and his wife, the novelist and renowned Times film critic Dilys Powell (1901-1995). Fleming describes the volume as "an American omnibus Bond with an amusing introduction by Paul Gallico" and provides a favourable indication of prospects for the forthcoming year: "So far as 1963 is concerned, you will probably be relieved to know that you stay alive! For the truth about the Interpol Conference was that it was a very serious, very unspectacular convention of dedicated professional men, and it needed all Fleming's ingenuity to discover sufficient news for an article on the conference agenda for that week's Sunday Times. Sternberg also points out that in Moonraker, Bond's opponent is named Drax ( Drache is German for dragon), while in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1963) the character Marc-Ange Draco's surname is Latin for dragon, and in From Russia, with Love Darko Kerim's first name is "an anagrammatic variation on the same cover name". There was a further boost to sales following the release of the film of the same name in 1963, which saw the sales of the Pan paperback rise from 145,000 in 1962 to 642,000 in 1963 and 600,000 in 1964.

Nonetheless, the manuscript notes show Fleming paying close attention to the intelligence community and especially the Russians, evidently with an eye to material for his novels. Benson declares that "many fans consider it the best Bond film, simply because it is close to Fleming's original story".
