It all began in Santiago de los Caballeros, a charming city located in the north of the Dominican Republic.The sweetness hits hard at the beginning of the tasting, but fades out into a smooth and balanced finish. The look and color is nice with a reddish mahogany glow in the bottle and a light yellowish amber in the glass. This deep mahogany coloured rum presents a sweet aroma balanced heavily toward cane honey, with earthy sugar cane undertones, along with a hint of vanilla, luscious toasted oak, caramel and dried fruits.

The only bad thing to come out of this discovery is now I want to keep trying new more expensive rums to see if I can tell the difference.It offers a bit of vanilla, dark chocolate and dark berries, but is dominated by somewhat bitter oaky notes.
