About this deal

At that without having any education or degree to be a teacher or anything like that, the job just changes like "that". She is looking for a man who appreciates her, wont stiff her with the bill, and who will stick around. The chemistry between them is red-hot, and the urge to take things to the next level is more tempting than Layla’s mocha fudge brownies. And with this arrangement, they both feel free to be as open and honest with each other as I'm sure every couple strives to be.

He's wearing a colorful Hawaiian shirt that should be ridiculous, but with the top three buttons undone, I can only focus on the jut of his collarbones, the material of the sleeves clinging to the curve of his biceps. K. Borison is fueled almost entirely by coffee and spends her days with imaginary characters doing imaginary things. We also met Caleb, who comes into the bakery several times a week for a coffee and one of Layla’s sweet treats. Having read the previous two books in the series (which I loved) I expected a good, spicy police romance. Even in the middle of the summer when the humidity is so thick it feels like I'm walking through Jell-O, the sticky heat making my hair curl. Caleb will show Layla what dating a man who treats her like she deserves is like and she'll tell him what he's doing wrong. I imagine people new to the contemporary romance genre would enjoy this but overall, it's a pretty basic contemporary romance series with boring smut.

I’m moving to a small town in the middle of nowhere, I am going to live on a Christmas tree farm and I am going to meet the god damn love of life. Caleb's family were mostly supportive and amazing, but also sometimes hurtful in trying to caution him since the arrangement is intended to be temporary. Apparently, owning the bakery at Inglewild’s most romantic destination does not help one’s love life—despite Layla’s best efforts. Caleb organises a bunch of dates for Layla (we love a guy who puts in effort) but hilariously, they go wrong in multiple ways but Layla still finds them endearing and loads of fun.Pretty sure Pippa narrated Lovelight Farms too, and she did a fine job as Layla, but not her male voices. I guess me 🤷🏼‍♀️ - the fact that he was adorably sweet just wasn’t doing to me what i think it was supposed to be doing… so I was having a hard time connecting with the actual romance. Caleb thinking he was a bad date but he's so considerate and sweet and Layla is too tongue-tied because she finds him so attractive 🥹 Why can't this be my life?I always thought Caleb’s interest in Layla was pretty obvious but it seems quite clear in this book that she really didn’t have an idea. She makes Caleb, who has already professed his feelings for her, keep coming to her bakery three days a week to prove that he really does love her—because the month of dating and conversations and sex before that didn’t say as much? Her choices have caused estrangement in her family but she’s stuck to them and Caleb really makes an effort to tell her she should be proud of what she’s built and achieved and I thought that was adorable. Our waitress, Celia, waits behind the bar with her lips in a thin line, her eyes kind and understanding.

But seeing the cute former cop/current teacher in a different setting makes Layla see him differently, and she can’t help but feel a spark of attraction. Our story features a bashful man who can rock a Hawaiian shirt, a hopeful and dreamy bakery owner, enough sweets to give you a cavity, and your favorite Inglewild residents.

Layla and Caleb were just two oblivious kittens, unlucky in love, yet still bursting at the seams with it. Which has nothing to do with his long-term crush on the hot bakery owner who serves him coffee every morning . I like how I never have to really worry, so much of the angst is self induced and there is plenty of comfort, support, good and bad advice.
