Givenchy Pi Neo is cooooool, chilling, breathtaking. I'm surprised there isn't condensation on the bottle. I really do think there is a reason why this came out in the month of september because I get a feeling of cool air when I smell this. I must buy a bottle ASAP and this will be my HP replacement. HP is now reformulated into weak blandness. Next i tried "tessor de orient" which is similar to HP but i needed a stronger almond/ameretto note. Next up was Christia Augulirias "By night" , nice but no lasting power. Safraleine is a product by the house of Givaudan, which contributes to unique, hot and twinkling effect and offers a new alternative for spicy combinations. Released in 1998, Pi by Givenchy is the ultimate creamy, amber, vanilla and woodsy men’s cologne. The scent is unconventional and perfect for those who like a touch of sweetness to their cologne.

As for the composition, the olfactive director Francoise Dounche was in charge of this new futuristic composition. He designed this neo-explosive fragrance and combined natural ingredients for the first time: bergamot, mandarin, cedar, patchouli and vanilla with synthesis of three molecules (Toscanol, Safraleine and Cosmone), which makes a completely different base of the fragrance and contributes to a sensational composition. The result is quite special and can be compared with a new dimension created between time and space. There are several successors of this edition. Their bottles were designed similarly, with an exception of modern and futuristic Pi Neo perfume from 2008. The bottle for Pi was created by Serge Mansau. Concocted by Givaudan’s Antoine Lie, Pi Neo has top notes of Italian bergamot and mandarin orange, a heart of cedar and patchouli and a base of amber and vanilla. As well, each of the accords includes a patented, futuristic note. The top note carries Toscanol, an anise-like ingredient intended to give the fragrance energy. In the heart, Safraleine is intended to enrich the woody accord and to add hints of leather, spice and tobacco. The base of the fragrance has Cosmone, which lends a fluidity and hint of ambergris to the scent. True to the original, Craze is also an excellent winter scent. However, it has broader usability, in my opinion, because you can wear it in fall and spring alike. Moreover, it is great for a wide range of different settings, you can wear it to both formal and casual occasions.

Before we dive into the ultimate clones of Pi, let me tell you a bit more about this cologne so that it is easier for you to compare and choose the right one for yourself. These are different, but there is an overall similar vanilla-almond-tonka vibe. JLB doesn't have the aromatic & fresh-spicy opening. While Pi doesn't develop the almond notes to the same degree of near-cherry pie facets as JLB, although Pi does develop some faint near-cherry pie facets of almond. Performance is close to equivalent for longevity, although Pi has a softer-but-still-present projection. The trope of 'this thing [x] used to be better, and this gives me the right to judge wholesale what's happening now in a wholesale, generic way' is something we should move on from. The fragrance is mostly equity nutty, and the lavender and tonka bean make it even more reminiscent of Pi. It isn't exactly what I would call a super-exciting composition but I don't find it metallic as some others have described it. Penhaligon's Sartorial is metallic. Chanel's Platinum Egoiste is metallic. Comme de Garcons' 888 is metallic. This /isn't/ overly metallic. Longevity on my skin is 8-10+ hours (1999 bottle) or 5-7 hours (2019 batch), with strong projection on the older bottle and more moderate on the newer one. This is the real difference from my test: the older one lasts a lot longer. But the scent is essentially the same. Nothing to IFRA regulate in this one, so I wouldn't worry much on buying the newer one, if you want it but cheap old bottles can be found (and it's synthetic, so it'll likely not spoil). This fragrance could have easily be bottled as a niche on its own. Pi by Givenchy is nothing groundbreaking. However, it’s just amazing to see that this fragrance does not smell dated. I have not tried the OG formula but I can say this smells quality and niche-like.It's more than that though the original is so complex and tips the balance between supreme and awful on my skin. Something about Pi puts me in mind of a poisonous noxious gas that smells super sweet just before you succumb to the fumes. Excellent ! Quality is way above average as you would expect from Givenchy. Pi lasted 7+ hours on my "perfume eating" skin- result. The closing performance is very close to Pi’s because the same vanilla and almond flavor stay for quite a long time.
