About this deal

Often we see french limestone pavers and large slabs being used for both indoor and outdoor use. However, there are number of different options available. Limestone can be cut into different shapes and sizes. Below are french limestone tiles used in a square. these are cut at 150 x 150mm, tumbled with a mix of tones and patina between each tile. There are still some fairly ineffective (usually cheap) sealers that need to be applied every two years as their properties diminish over time. The problem with this is that they never really work very well and don’t fully protect the floor. This is why we recommend a good quality sealer. – GROUTING AND LAYING OPTIONS

Projects that set out to restore the relevance of architecture while maintaining the authenticity and timelessness of the building often use terracotta floor tiles for porches, kitchens and bathroom spaces and, more recently, living rooms and bedrooms. Lubelska’s reclaimed terracotta floor tiles are of the highest quality. We go through a rigorous process of determining whether or not the tiles are strong and durable enough to create a reclaimed terracotta floor that can last a lifetime. We try to offer limestone flooring in both large format, squares, hexagon and rectangular. Although we have the capability to offer this in a number of different sizes and shapes.Oil and Silicone based sealers will seal the floor thoroughly and not allow your floor to breathe. By their nature, they will darken the floor and leave a shine. This is one of the most popular types of natural stone available in France. It has a creamy yellow tone and has been used for a vast amount of historical buildings not only in the UK but France as well. Caen limestone is becoming harder and hard to aquire and is often kept for use for the rennovation of old historic buildings. It is a good idea to dry lay a couple of square metres with your builder, prior to the actual laying. This gives one the opportunity to discuss any issues prior to the commencement of the actual task at hand. – USE A QUALITY FLOOR SEALER

It is only in the last decades or so that we have decided to take a leaf out of history and to start using terracotta tiles again for one of the reasons that they were first designed. Due to modern techniques in heating, terracotta tiles are making quite a resurgence as they are one of the best slow releasers of heat that can be laid on a floor. Shape : Terracotta tiles cut by machine are absolutely identical. Buy them, and you won’t encounter any problems during installation. Handmade tiles can be made of irregular shapes that are much more appealing but, unfortunately, can be more problematic to install. This limestone is sourced from the Loire Valley region of France. It has a light cream to beige color and is known for its fine grain and subtle veining. Savonnieres limestone is popular for flooring and is also used in countertops, fireplace surrounds, and other decorative applications. Limestone tile finishes Brushed – this has gone through a mechanical brushing technique which provides a textured surface. This is often used around swimming pools and non-slip areas.

Grout colour is very much an aesthetic choice and we all have different ideas about what we like. However, it is worth remembering that reclaimed tiles will often have a slightly deeper and wider joint and therefore discussing with your merchant about using a grout that doesn’t shrink too much when it dries is worthwhile.Honed – A completely flat matte surface with sharp edges. This is probably the most popular and available finish. There is not much rusticity or patina in the tile. As we all know, there are builders and then there are builders. It is very worthwhile asking your builder whether he has ever worked with reclaimed flooring before. Modern, engineered products are just that. They have tolerances that are negligible and can be laid with very little thought to the product. British born and bred, I met my wife from Poland in the UK in 1985 and were subsequently married in London. My profession, at this time, was buying and selling in the timber trade. In addition, some years later, we had a son, Edward, who now runs the business with me. Often a limestone with much deeper tones and variable colours ranging from browns and dark yellows to burnt oranges. This diverse natural stone flooring gives a feel of a floor that has been down for centuries. Chauvigny Limestone
