The FCA has an ‘Overall Responsibility’ requirement. This applies to a firm’s regulated and unregulated financial services activities and ensures that a Senior Manager has ultimate responsibility for managing or supervising every function within the firm relating to those activities. They must also report to the governing body about their area of responsibility; and send relevant matters about their area of responsibility to the governing body for decision.
