About this deal

All spikes have different characteristics. Because of this, some spikes will work better for specific disciplines as opposed to others. If you're known for one particular discipline, it's probably best to buy spikes that are best suited to that field. 2 - What surfaces do you train on?

As the title suggests, these spikes are designed to run into the ground with great ease! They are great at giving you extra grip, and generally speaking, if you mainly work with standard surfaces, these are probably your best bet. If this is what you're ideally after, Pyramid and Needle spikes are perhaps the most common options you can get... Pyramid Spikes Generally Christmas pyramids are made of wood and based on four- to eight-sided platforms with a long pole in the middle serving as the axle to which the entire apparatus tapers above and which supports any further platforms. Inside in a glass or ceramic support is a driveshaft on to which at least one platform is attached. The figures, which stand on the platforms are also traditionally made of wood. When it comes to what spikes you can buy, there are usually two main types. One of these is called a puncture spike, while the other is known as a compression spike... Puncture Spikes Most of the pyramids demonstrate nativity scenes. They include the story of Jesus Christ being born, of shepherds and wise men visiting the child, and of angels rejoicing in heaven. The nativity scene often is placed on the longest shelf at the bottom of the pyramid, while a pine cone or a star would crown the top.Christmas pyramids ( German: Weihnachtspyramide) are Christmas decorations that have their roots in the folklore and customs of the Ore Mountain region of Germany, but which have become popular internationally. They comprise a decorated pyramidal outer frame with candle holders and a central carousel with a rotor at the top which is driven by warm air from the lit candles. The carousel is decorated with nativity scenes and other Christmas figures such as angels and wise men, as well as worldly motifs such as mining folk and forest scenes. D Paper Mache Pyramids – We found ours here. They have a variety of sizes and also have cones if you’d prefer that look. These spikes have a wider top and are less pointy than Hexagonals, making them most similar to Christmas Trees. In terms of surface, they have been reported to give a better return reaction on Mondo surfaces. Therefore, if you're often found on these surfaces, this could be another viable option for you.

Instead of puncturing the ground, these spikes compress the surface instead. If you work mostly on Mondo surfaces, these spikes could be the better option for you, as they are known to give you better return on surfaces of this nature. Many compression spikes are readily available to buy, although the Christmas Tree is probably the most well known within the world of athletics... Christmas Tree Spikes What spikes would you feel most comfortable using? Would you prefer spikes that puncture or compress the ground? Would you perform better with smaller spikes rather than bigger ones? Also, are there any spikes that you think would look good with your gear? If you can find spikes that suit your needs and look great at the same time, then that's a bonus too! If you are new to the world of spikes, there are a few different factors that you need to take into consideration before investing in a set of spikes. But ultimately, you should think about the following three questions before going any further in the process... 1 - What are your disciplines? An important breakthrough in the popularity of the Christmas pyramid came around 1830 with the discovery of kerosene. Previously, people had used relatively expensive candles or rapeseed oil. As the means to light and spin the pyramids became much cheaper, the tradition spread. Now such pyramids can be found in numerous styles and sizes all over Germany as well as in many parts of the United States. Christmas pyramids take various forms from intricately carved miniature houses with pitched roofs, to large multi-level structures that simply serve as a display for the carved figures. In many cities in the Ore Mountains there are large Christmas pyramids on the Market Square at the Christmas market or in other locations associated with Christmas hustle and bustle. These are great for disciplines such as javelin and high jump. On the other hand, they're also great for cross country in dry conditions. Therefore, while these spikes are slightly bigger, they can still be relatively versatile for athletes.

Prince Albert, Queen Victoria, and the British royal family gathered around the Christmas tree at Windsor Castle, from the Illustrated London News, 1848. (more) Doing small sections at a time, apply Mod Podge to the paper mache pyramid and add layered tissue paper on top. If you are looking for a fun craft this Christmas that is great for kids of all ages, I hope you’ll consider my 3-D pyramid Christmas tree craft. I made one and had a lot of fun with my kids. This craft was inspired by the mountain themed baby shower I threw recently. We had left over 3-D pyramids, and I was immediately inspired by these and the upcoming holiday celebrations. If you want even more Christmas tree craft ideas, come see my popsicle tree craft, fingerprint Christmas trees or my other popsicle tree craft. These are the more traditional spikes out of the two. In terms of wear and tear, they're pretty durable and should last you for a little while. However, they will be the more hefty option out of the two due to this.
