About this deal

Bonjela Junior Gel is specially formulated to relieve pain associated with mouth ulcers, including those caused by braces. It contains Lidocaine Hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic to relieve pain, and Cetylpyridinium Chloride, an antiseptic which helps to fight infections. Do not exceed the stated dose. The most painful parts are when teeth are just about to break through the gums, and each instance may last a few days. The following teething symptoms are common: Products including Bonjela, Bonjela Cool Mint Gel and Bonjela Complete Plus, are not suitable for use if a child is under 16 years of age. This is because one of the ingredients used within the formula of these products has been found to have a potential relation to salicylates and Reye's syndrome when given to children.

This medicinal product contains 46.83 mg of alcohol (ethanol) in each dose. The amount in each dose of this medicine is equivalent to less than 2 ml beer or 1 ml of wine. The small amount of alcohol in this medicine will not have any noticeable effects.Lidocaine should be used with caution in patients receiving other local anaesthetics or agents structurally related to amide-type local anaesthetics, e.g. antiarrhythmic drugs such as mexiletine, since the toxic effects may be additive. If you are unsure about whether you can safely use this product, seek advice from a medical professional. They can give you more information, particularly on using the gel alongside other medicines such as other local anaesthetics and antifungal products. Can I use this product if my child is taking other medication? Concurrent use of either cimetidine or propranolol increases the risk of lidocaine toxicity. Lidocaine is antagonised by those diuretics which cause hypokalaemia.
