About this deal

Shari Lapena consistently delivers entertaining SUSPENSE, and this one is no exception! I enjoyed my time in Stanhope, and look forward to her next! I tore through it. It kept me on my toes throughout and the ending was just fantastic. Really tense!" As the story progressed, I found myself immersed in the twists and turns, unable to tear myself away from the gripping narrative. The author skillfully wove a web of suspicion and intrigue, keeping me on the edge of my seat with each revelation. The relentless pace and the constant sense of unease made it a rollercoaster of emotions, which I couldn't get enough of. William contemplates telling the police the truth. He’s worried they will find his burner phone he uses to call Nora. Shari Lapena is an amazingly reliable author. I can always count on her books to be a unique, entertaining and suspenseful treat. She writes domestic thrillers that have me on edge from start to finish. This latest release grabbed me from chapter one and kept my curiosity and interest piqued until the very end.

I have done a post on The Best Book by Shari Lapena. I agree with Goodreads that, while this book kept my interest, this is NOT her best book. In my review, I do point out the things I liked about the book: the number of suspects and the fact that the book did keep me guessing. Everyone Here Is Lying is a perfectly plotted thriller that moves whip-fast. It's filled with lies, betrayals, and so many twists. The ending will make your heart stop. Without a doubt, my new favorite book by Shari Lapena." - Samantha Downing Caregiver Kit hasn’t worked since being suspended without pay six months earlier. She’s desperate for a job when her boss offers her a post working for an elderly patient who requires constant attention. Unable to speak, able only to move one hand, Lenora Hope lives in a mansion outside of town. She’s the subject of a rhyme children chant in the playground: “At 17, Lenora Hope/ Hung her sister with a rope/ Stabbed her father with a knife/ Took her mother’s happy life./ It wasn’t me, Lenora said/ But she’s the only one not dead.” Shari Lapena is a modern master of the psychological thriller, and all of her considerable talents are at work in Everyone Here Is Lying .' Steve Cavanagh

I seem to be held captive by how neighbours’ lives intersect, how they witness much of what goes on yet feel the need to keep a distance out of courtesy. Lapena seems to have honed in on my obsession and splits open the Stanhope neighbourhood to reveal that it’s no different than any other suburban neighbourhood - there are secrets on every street. Have you read Everyone Here is Lying by Shari LaPena and need a character list or a plot summary? Want the ending explained? Need to talk about that reveal? All in all, this is your standard popcorn 'suspense.' It won't be one for the record books, but it didn't irk tf outta me which is always a good sign. It's like the Switzerland of suspense books 😂 And what an end it was. It's quite coy, winking at the reader and implying a certain conclusion. Usually I don't mind using my own imagination to fill in the blanks, but in this case, I wanted that certainty. I wish there had been one more chapter to spell it all out so I could get the satisfaction of seeing the villain get what they deserve. But that's a pretty small quibble overall. Now here’s a neighborhood thriller done right! I’ve read a handful of mediocre neighborhood thrillers recently so Everyone Here Is Lying was such a refreshing change. As the title suggests, this is one of those neighborhoods where everyone has a secret they don’t want their neighbors or the police to know. I loved listening to these twists unfold. Suddenly Stanhope doesn't feel so safe. And William isn't the only one on his street who's hiding a lie. As witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true, Ella's neighbours become increasingly unhinged. William does not mention that Avery was home or that he hit her. Erin tells the police that Avery is impulsive and defiant.Erin tells Gully that she knows about the witness. Gully asks her who told her, and she says William did. Then Erin asks Gully if she told William about the witness. She didn’t, which makes Erin realize that Nora must have told William, and that his affair was with Nora.

Ms. Lapena’s story takes you on a whirlwind of guessing who is lying and who is telling the truth . . . Just when you think you may have the answers to what happened to Avery, Ms. Lapena takes you into another direction with ease, keeping readers on edge . . . Everyone Here Is Lying is a perfect summer read. The story keeps you interested until the very last sentence and makes the reader long for a sequel.” William Wooler has been having an affair, with his beautiful neighbor, Nora-an affair that ended unexpectedly this afternoon at a motel up the road. There was a whole side plot with Nora’s husband thinking about killing her, but he didn’t do anything. They just hated each other. LA Times explains what Jonathan Franzen and Joseph Epstein, The Novel, Who Needs It? (Encounter), are missing about the “death of the novel.” Overall, Not a Happy Family remains the best of La Peña’s domestic thrillers. While Everyone Here is Lying has a similar vibe, it left me questioning characters’ actions and seeking more explanations. As the events unfold, the lives of the upstanding and respected residents are suddenly under the microscope of the police and the media. Well-kept secrets come to light as neighbors point accusing fingers at one another and everyone comes under suspicion.
