It helps acquire an understanding of hundreds of Quranic verses, ahadith, Arabic parables, and poetry. Whilst there are now several courses available on the market for the teaching of the Arabic language, the unique features of this particular one are:

Arabic For english Speaking Students Muhammad Abdul-Rauf Arabic For english Speaking Students Muhammad Abdul-Rauf

A large chunk of the vocabulary used in the dialogues & exercises does not appear in the vocabulary lists in the English text. This necessitates the use of a dictionary. The third volume of this series recommends Hans Wehr's Arabic dictionary, but no instruction is given in volumes one or two for how to look terms up in Wehr. Like most good Arabic dictionaries, Wehr's functions quite differently from European language dictionaries, & students need to know how to identify words' roots. Arabic Course (for English -Speaking Students) Vol 1

The Arabic Course for English-Speaking Students is a comprehensive and popular course for the teaching of the Qur'anic and Traditional Arabic, originally devised and taught at the renowned Madinah Islamic University, catering for the non-Arabic speaking students from all over the world. It combines modern Arabic vocabulary with Islamic terminology used in the Qur’an and Sunnah. It Helps acquire an understanding of hundreds of Qur’anic verses, ahadith, Arabic parables and poetry." A few notes in favour of the textbook: The primary text is entirely in Arabic. This means that you're less inclined than you might otherwise be to glance at the English first. Good for making you actually reading Arabic. The grammar is *mostly* introduced just a little bit at a time, which makes it far easier to absorb. This is less true than in volume one &, in fact, the system falls apart in the final lessons of the book, where various kinds of verbs are taught all at once (this would have been easier if, for example, الفعل الأجوف—hollow verbs—had had its forms spread out over a few lessons, rather than having all forms introduced in one lesson). However, as I said, the book is mostly quite good about this.

Received the prestigious Madihur Rasool Sadaqatullah Appa Award 2012 CE for outstanding Arabic Scholar, from the Department of Arabic, Persian & Urdu, University of Madras, India (see ceremony and photos below); The course is taught in English and Arabic and includes an appropriate exposure to Arabic grammar and vocabulary, while developing the skills of comprehension in listening and reading, and the skills of expression in speaking and writing. Here's what works: Grammatical points are doled out in drips & drabs, & are presented in the course of the reading over & over. Not much grammatical memorisation is required. Vocabulary is also given out in small chunks, & most vocab is repeated, which also helps to reduce the necessity of memorisation. Vocabulary in volume one focuses mostly on items in the classroom (including discussion of possession & location), talking about family, & talking about where one's from & what one does for a living. There is no index of grammatical terms. Some terms are introduced once, disappear for a few lessons, & then reappear again. This can get confusing. My recommendation for other students of these textbooks is to make a list—either in a notebook, on a sheet of paper near where you study, or perhaps ideally digitally, so that it can be alphabetised—of all new grammatical terms as they are first introduced. Use the below resources for studying and mastering the Books 1,2 and 3 of “Lessons in Arabic language” [as taught at the Islaamic University of Madeenah] written by Shaykh Dr. V. ‘Abdur-Raheem

Currently the Director of the Translation Centre at the ‘King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex’ (Madinah, Saudi Arabia) The ARABIC COURSE for English-Speaking students is a comprehensive and popular course for the teaching of the Qura'anic and Traditional Arabic, originally devised and taught at the renowned Madinah Islamic University catering for the non-Arabic speaking students from all over the world. Over the years, this course has enabled students to become competent in their use of the Arabic language and to participate and benefit from scholarly pursuits such as Qur'anic exegesis, hadith, fiqh, serah, history, and classical and modern Arabic literature. I'd like to give this course more stars: I think it's well-thought-out, & I'm sure it helped me immensely in improving my classical Arabic reading. But there are too many flaws to give it the praise I would like.Currently the Director of the Translation Centre at the ‘King Fahd Glorious Qur’aan Printing Complex’ (Madinah, Saudi Arabia) About The Publisher UK Islamic Academy I read thru volume 1, did all the exercises verbally, & did no other study. (I usually combine textbooks with flashcards when learning a language.) I'm confident that I have all of the grammatical points presented, & the great majority of the vocabulary. The book makes a grammar very different from English quite accessible.
